Although originally from Central Illinois, I call Alabama home now. I live in the country with my quirky family - yes, we have cows in the front yard, um, pasture.
I read more than I should, enjoying the best romance books. I support the notion that the best time to put a book down is at its end.
Books have brought me great joy in life. Through books I've been able to travel around the world, live in different times, perform in rock bands, escape from a bad day, solve crimes, play sports, shape shift, execute military operations, live in alternate universes, race horses, and learn who I am. It took me a long time to realize that I am not alone in this. I get excited just thinking about all of the books that have yet to be written. I wish I could read them all.
My husband, Big Country, complained about tripping over all the books I was reading. He got me an e-reader (best gift ever), but that made books so easy to buy! He suggested writing, in the hope that I would spend less time and money on books, I'm sure. That didn't quite happen, but I discovered that I love to write. I joined Southern Magic, my local chapter of Romance Writers of America (RWA). The members offer nothing but encouragement, patience, and kindness. The writing community as a whole has one thing in common that I didn't realize until I spent time with them: Writers are learners. And I continue to learn from them every day.
